United cramming in more seats in economy
United Airlines will stuff more Economy seats on its Boeing 777 fleet to 10 seats to a row.
The seating reconfiguration will add an extra 21 seats but says there will be no change in ‘seat pitch’ legroom offered.
Legroom will stay unchanged at 31 inches in Economy and 34 inches for Economy Plus seats.
United plans to add the seats to 90 of its Boeing 777-200 aircraft in the coming years.
Boeing 777-200 planes begin service this winter on mostly long haul routes and will also have 50 lie-flat ‘Polaris’ business class seats.
American Airlines has already added up to 42 more seats on some of its B777 jets, now accommodating 289 passengers in rows of 10 in Economy class.
