United flight landing gear collapses during hard landing
The Federal Aviation Administration has opened an investigation into a United Airlines flight’s hard landing.
The Airbus A321 lost part of its front landing gear as it touched down.
A video uploaded to social media showed the plane bouncing on the runway and then seem to lose a front wheel.
It caused a short ground stop at the airport.
The FAA said it is investigating.
The airline said there were no reports of injuries to 200 passengers and six crew.
“United flight 2323 from Chicago to Orlando experienced a mechanical issue upon landing. Passengers were bused to the terminal and the aircraft was cleared from the runway,” United Airlines said.
There were strong winds at the time of the incident but this is unclear if it was a factor.
The National Weather Service cited wind gusts of more than 50 mph
The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority said some following flights suffered delays.
