United flight turns back after ‘psychotic’ passenger meltdown
It took five male passengers to subdue a disruptive woman on a United Airlines flight described as ‘psychotic.’
The passengers, including an off-duty pilot, sprang into action after the woman began ranting midway through the flight to New Orleans and ran toward the cockpit.
The pilot turned the plane round and landed back in Houston.
"She was in a very psychotic state. She was very aggressive," said passenger Julian Markowitz who helped take the woman down.
She exhibited very odd behaviour, yelling: "We are all protected and loved! This plane is going to land beautifully and kindly!" Markowitz said.
After being restrained in zip tie handcuffs, the woman was taken into custody at Houston, where her fate is currently unknown.
The airline issued a statement: "United flight 898 from Houston to New Orleans returned to Houston due to a disruptive customer. The flight landed safely, and law officials met the aircraft upon arrival."
