United launches Covid pre-clearance program for Hawaii
United Airlines is rolling out a Covid-19 pre-clearance program, allowing travelers to skip the lines on arrival in Hawaii.
United passengers will be able to skip document screenings in Hawaii, which often result in long lines.
Travelers with proof of a negative Covid test can avoid Hawaii’s 10-day quarantine.
It is valid for travel for flights from United’s mainland hubs like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Houston and Chicago.
The airline operates 110 flights a week to Hawaii.
The pre-clearance allows United customers to register and upload test results to Hawaii’s Safe Travels program online which must be taken within 72 hours of departure.
Tests must be performed at one of the state’s trusted testing partners.
This is verified prior to departure by a United customer service agent and the customer will then be given a wristband which enables them to bypass the additional airport screening in Hawaii.
