United rewarding flyers with bonus miles for Hurricane donations

United Airlines is teaming up with several disaster relief agencies to reward frequent flyers who donate funds to the post Hurricane Matthew cleanup effort.
 
Through online donations platform CrowdRise, United has partnered with the American Red Cross, Americares, Airlink and OperationUSA
 
The airline has pledged to reward frequent with miles if they donate to any of these organizations.
 
United will hand out up to five million miles and match donations up to $100,000.
 
MileagePlus customers who donate $250 or more will be given 1,000 bonus miles.
 
Bonus miles will be given on a first come first served basis until October 21 for donations made via crowdrise.com/UAMatthewRelief.
 
"The thoughts of our entire United family are with the families and individuals affected by this devastating storm,~’ said Brett Hart, United’s executive vice president and general counsel.
 
"Our customers and employees have shown their generosity and eagerness to help time and time again in disasters such as Hurricane Matthew. It is our hope that partnering with these organizations will help provide relief to those who need it most."~’
 
The airline’s customers have contributed more than $4 million to disaster relief efforts since 2013, United said.
