Universal wants to build 4,000 new hotel rooms in Orlando

Monday, 23 Mar, 2017 0

Universal Orlando has filed plans with the city to build up to 4,000 new hotel rooms on the site of the now shuttered Wet n Wild water park.

The iconic Wet n Wild park closed at the end of last year and is being replaced by Universal’s new Volcano Bay aqua park.

A 4,000-room hotel complex will be built subject to approval on land now occupied by Wet n Wild, along with land used for three adjacent parking lots.

It has been dubbed ‘Project 566’ with no other details yet disclosed.

The company is busy upgrading and adding hotel rooms in Orlando and the new plans would take the number to about 10,000 rooms in total.

It is expanding Cabana Bay by 400 rooms and last year announced the new 16-story, 600-room Aventura Hotel which is scheduled for a 2018 opening.
