UPDATED: Ryanair claims it has come into line with pricing…but ABTA disagrees
Ryanair claims it has finally complied with the Office of Fair Trading’s pricing rules.
The airline says it is now showing prices inclusive of taxes, fees and charges on its website after making some changes at the weekend.
It switched off its website over the weekend for technical reasons and said it would use the opportunity to make the switch to inclusive pricing.
But it said due to “bedding problems” it was only able to bring its pricing in line from yesterday.
But a spokeswoman for ABTA said advertised prices were still not inclusive.
“It’s not until you’ve selected your actual flight that you see the inclusive price,” she said. “We don’t believe this is in line with the OFT’s guidelines.”
Meanwhile, Ryanair has apologised to customers for technical glitches which have temporarily reduced access.
Head of communications Peter Sherrard said: “We are continuing to make significant progress with the cut over to the New Skies system.
“However, we expect further bedding down problems over the next day or two and we ask all passengers to be patient with us, as we complete the largest ever software changeover undertaken by any airline, anywhere in the world.”
