US Airways flight attendants nix contract
US Airways Flight attendants have rejected a tentative agreement to combine the contracts of pre-merger America West and US Airways with 51 percent of Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) members voting no. The deal would have included 13 percent pay raises for pre-merger US Airways attendants and 25 percent raises for the America West cabin crew.
The union’s written statement said: "While the tentative agreement contained pay increases and job protections for all Flight Attendants, our flying partners today declared management didn’t dig deep enough. For too long, Flight Attendants have subsidized the cost of the merger and management has failed to adequately address these concerns."
The Union said it would "do whatever it takes" to make sure their members have an industry-leading contract.
