US extends slot waiver for international flights again
The US is again extending pandemic relief to airlines to allow them to keep their coveted airport slots for international flights this summer. It applies to landing rights in New York City and Washington, D.C.
The Federal Aviation Administration will allow the slot waiver through late October, even if airlines drop some international flights.
Normally, the airports adopt a ‘use it or lose it’ rule. Federal regulators began waiving that rule in March 2020 due to the pandemic. It has now extended the slot-use waiver four times.
