US flyers to India get a touch of luxury
Flying from the US to India will get easier and more luxurious next month when Jet Airways starts daily flights between the New York area and Mumbai through Brussels.
Passengers on Jet Airways, India’s largest privately owned airline, will be flying on new Boeing 777’s that have been configured to offer eight first-class suites that have sliding doors.
Each 26-square-foot suite includes a seat that converts into a seven-foot bed. Other creature comforts include a 23-inch flat screen monitor, a hanging wardrobe and a credenza for dining or working.
Passengers can order Dom Perignon and Krug.
In premiere class, passengers will have oversize table-and-seat units that convert to beds. The units also have laptop ports.
The bar for premiere-class passengers will have single malt whiskeys.
Even economy class has something new: an ergonomic seat with a 130-degree recline and a foot rest.
All classes will have a new entertainment system with 200 hours of programming.
First-class tickets are over $10,000 while economy might be as low as $850, according to various reports.
