US launches UK campaign
For the first time ever, the Department of Commerce launched a campaign to market the US as a tourist destination in the UK.
“You’ve seen the films, now visit the set,” is the theme of the $4 million integrated campaign developed by the Visit America Alliance.
The films touting the US use well-known iconic landscapes from well-known US cities such as Chicago.
The program will also use public relations, advertising and cooperative marketing components to invite British travelers to see the “real” America they know from films. The campaign will also point out diversity of places to visit in the US.
