US travel to Trinidad and Tobago on a roll
Fueled by additional airlift from the US, Trinidad and Tobago is experiencing a surge in tourism from the United States, increasing by 20% so far this year.
The Trinidad and Tobago Tourism Development Company said the twin islands have welcomed nearly 50,000 US visitors in the first quarter of 2015, accounting for 40% of total arrivals.
"This increase is very promising and we have embarked on a number of activities with a view to continuing this trend for the rest of the year and for years to come," said Warren Solomon, general manager of marketing at the Trinidad & Tobago Tourism Development Company.
We are pleased with the continuous aggressive efforts and results our marketing and PR team has garnered and plan to ramp up our campaigns in this market as the year progresses."
Trinidad and Tobago has become more accessible thanks to the launch of JetBlue flights from New York City and Fort Lauderdale.
The TDC said it will also intensify marketing efforts to attract MICE business with a series of road shows in key metro areas including Atlanta, Washington D.C. and New York City.
A ‘Trinidad & Tobago Day’ is planned to take place in New York in July, while the TDC launches the Trinidad & Tobago Travel Agent Specialist Program next month.
