Value of cruising continues to rise
The British cruise sector contributed £2.49 billion to the UK economy last year, 3.7% more than in the previous year.
Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) said the industry’s contribution to the economies of Europe was also up, by 3.4% to £13.5 billion.
The UK remains Europe’s biggest cruise market, accounting for 27.7% of all European passengers last year when more than 1.7 million British holidaymakers went on a cruise.
However, the UK is only the third largest recipient of wealth generated by the cruise industry, after both Italy and Germany.
