Vegas casino hotels lure Canadians back with US-Canadian dollar parity deals
Three Las Vegas hotels are taking unusual steps to attract Canadians back to Sin City.
Circa Resort and Casino, the D Las Vegas, and Golden Gate Hotel and Casino unveiled the ‘At Par’ program.
The hotels will accept the Canadian dollar at parity with the US dollar.
The 1 for 1 deal means a saving of about 30% for Canadians.
Vegas has been hit badly by the downturn in Canadian tourist traffic to the US, along with border states like New York plus sunshine favorite Florida.
Derek Stevens, CEO of the three hotels said: “I think everyone knows that Canadian tourism to Las Vegas has been down.”
“I thought it was important for me to reach out and just consciously say: ‘Hey Canada, we miss you, we want you to come back.’“
Hary Reid Las Vegas Airport has posted passenger traffic declines for 10 consecutive months, with Canada the main market driving the downturn.
“I’m not trying to hide from the fact that the Canadian boycott has a significant impact,” Stevens added.
The At par deal is valid for accommodations, drinks, and up to C$500 for slot machines.
Customers have to provide proof of Canadian citizenship.
