Vietnam now has a tourism ministry
HO CHI MINH CITY – The government of Vietnam has elevated tourism to ministry level with the formation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The newly appointed minister, Mr Hoang Tuan Anh, said tourism has seen strong growth in recent years, and is now injecting millions of dollars into the economy and creating thousands of new jobs.
Meanwhile, the fate of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) is still to be formally decided.
According to tourism observers, VNAT could either be amalgamated with the newly formed ministry or be an agency within the ministry.
