Virgin Atlantic ambush British Airways party
With the British Airways Club World launch taking place in Pyrmont yesterday afternoon, members of the media attending the BA launch received a cheeky invite from BA competitors Virgin Atlantic saying BA was boring and inviting media to meet the Virgin Atlantic team for drinks at the nearby Flying Fish restaurant.BA’s
Regional GM SW Pacific, told The Mole that BA was rather honoured that Virgin Atlantic felt it necessary to try and ambush a BA party, not do their own thing, with other BA Managers present adding that perhaps it was a matter of lack of confidence in Virgin’s product and not being able to attract the right guests, without hijacking BA’s!
Virgin Atlantic’s Margy Vary, Marketing and PR Manager and Nick Larkworthy, PR and Marketing Executive, said that they though it would be bit of fun and friendly rivalry when they heard that BA were having the launch in Pyrmont for Virgin invite to the media invited to the BA event for a drink.
Their cheeky approach appeared to have been rewarded with several leading media joining Branson’s boys and girls for a drink, but hey the words media and free drinks could mean that it was bound to have been successful!
