Virgin Blue to extend operations in Asia
BRISBANE – Virgin Blue will be more active in Asia once it has put its current challenges to rest (see separate story).
Late last year Virgin’s regional international airline Pacific Blue launched daily 737 services from Perth to Bali.
Other destinations being studied by Virgin are Vietnam, Singapore, Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Phuket.
But plans to operate between Australia and South Africa have been shelved for the time being.
Virgin Blue CEO Brett Godfrey said more destinations linking Perth and destinations in Asia were being negotiated but details would not be revealed while talks were ongoing.
“We are still in final negotiations and need to keep the detail confidential,†he said.
