Virgin Express sees internet bookings increase
Brussels based no-frills airline Virgin Express claims that its web bookings increased by 71.8% for the second quarter of the year compared to the same period in 2001.
The carrier hopes this will improve further due to recent technical improvements made to its website. These include putting the booking engine on the home page and the addition of a ‘check prices’ button.
During the first six months of the year the airline sold over 277,000 seats on the internet with web bookings currently accounting for 29.8 % of seats sold. About 21% of the reservations come through the airline’s call centre, with the remainder booked via travel agents and the GDSs.
Belgium is the airline’s largest internet market – accounting for more than 35% of web bookings compared to 25% a year ago.
