Virgin moves to 2%

Virgin Atlantic is relaunching its UK agency commission scheme to offer a flat rate of 2%. “Virgin Atlantic Colours” will offer commission of 2% to all registered UK agents from July 1 and 1% to agents not registered. Previously commissions ranged from 0% to 7%. According to the airline the move follows consultation with the travel trade and has the support of ABTA and GTMC. The scheme maintains a tier system offering agents different benefits, support, training and incentives according to whether they are in the platinum, gold, silver or red band. And following the changes, agents will find it easier to achieve gold status according to general manager of sales, Paul Wait. Mr Wait said: “We faced the choice of matching our rivals and reducing commission levels to 0%. However, we still believe in the valuable contribution the travel trade makes and will instead offer a 2% commission for the sale of all classes of tickets for agents that participate in the Colours scheme.” Agents wishing to join the scheme should call 08701 904406.
