Visit Orlando adds tourist kiosks along Florida Turnpike

Monday, 24 Feb, 2016 0
Visit Orlando this week began ramping up its presence around the Sunshine State with the opening of the first interactive information kiosks along the Florida Turnpike.

Three Visit Orlando kiosks will be manned by staff and an additional four will be self-service, the agency said.

All will be located at Florida Turnpike service centers, which welcome about 20 million motorists every year.

"It helps expand our reach to visitors not just in our immediate backyard, but beyond our borders in a very nice way," said George Aguel, chief executive of Visist Orlando.

The kiosks will provide up to date information for motorists on the latest happenings in Orlando and offer ticket sales for some attractions.

The non-staffed kiosks will have interactive touch screens with video and photo content showcasing Orlando area scenes.

"It’s kind of a complete do-it-yourself, but in a fun, interactive way to do it," Aguel said.

The Florida Turnpike runs north-south for more than 300 miles through the state traversing Orlando, Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.
