Visitor numbers down at International Confex
The organisers of meetings and events exhibition International Confex have blamed the downturn in visitors to last month’s show on the fact that it took place during the half term break.
Unaudited visitor numbers for the exhibition stand at 8,583 compared to 9.362 for last year’s event – a downturn of 8.3%. However, on a more positive note, overseas visitor numbers increased by 26% to 504 according to on-site statistics.
Event director Paula Lorimer said: “Exhibitors have told us time and time again how impressed they were with the quality of buyers at this year’s show. We are very pleased to hear this, as our focus, moving forward is to attract quality as opposed to quantity. Having said that, we were very pleased with the level of visitor numbers in the current climate.”
She added: “The number of visitors who pre-registered for the show was actually much higher than those pre-registered for last year so we think the small downturn in numbers may have been due to the exhibition being held in the half term break. This was due to the positioning of Easter and the long term dates on other shows within Earls Court’s calendar. We will be back in our regular end of February slot at Earls Court for 2003 and 2004.”
This year’s show took place at Earls Court 1 from February 19-21, while next year’s event will take place at the same venue from February 25-27. For further details see the: International Confex website.
