Volendam: Around Australia in 35 days

SYDNEY – Holland America Line’s 2010 Australian Circumnavigation cruise departs Sydney on March 14 aboard the 1,432-passenger, ms Volendam.

The fully booked 34-day voyage will include overnight calls at Fremantle, Sydney and Hobart.

Day visits will include Melbourne, Adelaide, Newcastle, Batemans Bay, Esperance, Albany, Geraldton, Exmouth, Darwin, Cairns, Townsville and Brisbane.

In addition, the ship will cruise Australia’s far north – Booby Island, Torres Strait and Sherrard Island – with a special sunset visit at Lizard Island on April 9.

Also included is two days’ cruising the Whitsundays.

The Volendam will spend a morning in Slawi Bay, Komodo Island, Indonesia where guests will have the opportunity to take in an optional shore excursion of Komodo National Park in search of one of the 300 Komodo dragons which make their habitat there.

Following her return to Sydney on April 17, Volendam will depart to Vancouver via the South Pacific.

The Volendam will return to Australian waters on September 22, 2010, for an extensive 2010/2011 cruising season.
