The 15 finalists have now been announced for National Geographic’s Geotourism Challenge.

Of the 323 entries from 83 countries, the 15 chosen as finalists are as follows:

5. Latvia, Creating alternatives to mass tourism Eco Health Farms .

6. Costa Rica, Rainforest Restoration and Sustainable Community Development Rios Tropicales Lodge.

7. Russia, The Great Baikal Trail: the first system of hiking trails in all of Russia.

8. Thailand, Evason Phuket Eco Trail Evasion Phuket and Six Senses Spa .

9. Tanzania, helping save the coral reefs of Tanzania Chumbe Island Coral Park .

10. Gabon, Creating a new global ecotourism destination in the rainforests of     Gabon Wildlife Conservation Society .

11. India, Ladakh Homestays- transforming local mindsets towards snow leopards Snow Leopard Conservancy India Trust .

12. Ecuador, Yachana: Geotourism Lodge and School Yachana Foundation .
