Travel firms are urged to lobby their clients after voting opened for the 2013 British Travel Awards (BTAs).

Nominated companies in the 75 award categories have until Septemeber 30th to get their past customers to vote at www.britishtravelawards.com.

Last year more than one million votes were cast to establish the 2012 BTA winners.

BTA chief executive, Lorraine Barnes Burton, said: "Nominated companies need to get lobbying for votes.

"We provide marketing tools to help with campaigns, including a ‘vote for us’ button to be displayed on websites and emails making it easy for customers to click through to the BTA website and cast their vote."

Everyone voting is entered into a prize draw with lots of great prizes up for grabs including a Viking River Cruise, a Voyage of Discover Cruise, a Travelsphere escorted holiday and a Brittany Ferries mini cruise.

The 2013 BTAs will take place in London on October 31.
