‘We can take on OTAs,’ says homeworker boss Speakman

Travel Counsellors founder and chairman David Speakman will host a seminar at this year’s World Travel Market sharing his views on how traditional agents can survive the threat of online rivals.

Speakman, who set up Travel Counsellors 20 years ago, will tell delegates that agents ‘can not only compete but also flourish in what many perceive as an internet dominated age’.

"Our business is based on trust and relationships, something an online booking tool simply can’t replicate," he will say.

The session will take place on November 5 at 10:30 at London’s Excel.

Speakman will highlight the many pitfalls of researching and booking travel on the internet, and how agents can utilise these to their advantage.

There will also be an open Q&A session.
