Wealthy still use agents
How do the very wealthiest Americans learn about new vacation resorts or destinations?
The top three sources are word of mouth (53%), travel articles (38%) and the internet (27%), according to the latest Survey of Affluent Americans study.
Travel agents were also mentioned by 8% of the total sample, according to the American Affluence Research Center.
The survey focused on the wealthiest 10% of all US households. With incomes averaging $270,000, these 11 million households have a minimum net worth of $750,000.
Fifteen percent of those surveyed planned to take at least one cruise during the next year. That number has shown little variance over the past several years, according to the center, which added:
“Positive attitudes about the current economy and the outlook for the next 12 months are contributing to strong vacation travel spending plans.”
