We’re ready for APEC, Bali says
Severe flight disruptions and a security lockdown of Bali’s Nusa Dua resort area will be in force during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit during the first week of October.
Bali will host delegates from the 21 APEC member-countries at the summit, with heads of state and heads of government arriving at Ngurah Rai airport in 15 presidential planes.
Arrangements are in place to host 5000 APEC delegates and journalists, who will be accommodated in Nusa Dua where Sofitel is the official host hotel.
“We are almost finished making preparations. About 80 percent of the preparations have been completed,” said National Economic Committee chairman Chairul Tanjung, who is also the deputy chairman of the APEC steering committee.
US president Barack Obama, Russian president Vladimir Putin and Chinese president Xi Jinping are among those expected at the summit.
Several airlines flying into and out of Bali over the APEC period are advising that flights have been cancelled or re-timed from October 6-9.
