WestJet names chief digital and innovation officer
Canadian budget carrier WestJet has announced Alfredo C. Tan as new chief digital and innovation officer.
Tan takes over on March 5 and will head up the development and rollout of WestJet’s digital strategy at the Calgary HQ.
Additionally, Tan will set up a second innovation team in Toronto tasked with building out WestJet’s full digital capabilities including new products, solutions and partnerships.
"Alfredo’s digital understanding, experience and commitment to that core focus will allow us to innovate faster, collaborate more effectively and serve our guests better. I look forward to welcoming Alfredo to our talented team," said Gregg Saretsky, WestJet president and CEO.
Tan is a former executive at Facebook and Instagram in Canada and also helped to launch Facebook and Instagram in the Philippines.
He has 20 years in technology, digital media and enterprise marketing with key roles at Yahoo!, Sympatico MSN and Bell Canada.
"I am very excited to be joining WestJet at this important juncture as it embarks on a bold journey in becoming a global airline," said Tan.
WestJet has an aim to become a network airline and is close to announcing the first routes for its upcoming ultra-low cost airline, called Swoop.
