Which? sounds alarm bell for unused refund vouchers
Travel refund vouchers worth hundreds of millions of pounds still remain unclaimed.
International Airlines Group airlines still holds about €911 million worth of unused vouchers.
Customers have until September to use them or they could lose them.
EasyJet had £111 million of unused vouchers as of the third quarter last year.
Consumer champion Which? called out airlines and urged customers to use them before it’s too late.
“Many customers now find themselves in a ‘use it or lose it’ scenario. Everyone should check the expiry date,” said Rocio Concha, Director of Policy and Advocacy.
“The CAA must also ensure that airlines are meeting their legal obligations around refunds.”
Which? again says the government must also urgently give the CAA with the powers to fine airlines for wrongdoing, and ‘begin restoring consumer confidence in the sector.’
