Will & Kate spark bookings bonanza for southeast Asia
Bookings for Malaysia and Singapore have jumped by more than a third due to publicity surrounding the recent visit by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
William and Kate spent two nights in Singapore’s famous Raffles hotel and visited the country’s Botanical Gardens, the Kranji Memorial Cemetry and the Gardens by the Bay before travelling on to Malaysia.
They visited the capital Kuala Lumpur and afterwards headed to the jungles of Sabah where they stayed at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge, an exclusive retreat.
As predicted by TravelMole last week, Lastminute.com said sales of flights and hotels in Singapore had gone up by 51% while bookings to Malaysia were up 34% compared with the same period last year.
The royal couple later travelled to the Solomon Islands before travelling on to the South Pacific island of Tuvalu for the final leg of their tour.
