Wine Tasting should be called adventure travel!

Austin-Lehman Adventures in the USA says a new definition of adventure travel should include such seemingly passive events as wine tasting.

The reason: adventures should include “experiences that enrich and delight body, mind and soul,” which they say wine tasting accomplishes.

The company this fall is offering two active, luxury, multi-sport adventures where private vineyard and winery tours and product sampling compliment hiking, biking and paddling. Overnight stays are at locally run properties.

“We challenge guests with a variety of healthy, active pursuits (guests decide their own comfort level of challenge and exertion). Then we stimulate the mind and appreciation of a destination through interaction with local experts, artists, historians, naturalists, chefs and vintners,” said Dan Austin, director.

The two new tours include:

** The 6 day / 5 night California – Redwoods to Wineries Adventure can take up to 12 guests in September. The per person rate based on double occupancy is $US2,498 exclusive of air to and from San Francisco. The price includes all meals (but 1 dinner), accommodations, ground transportation, all sporting equipment and expert guides.

Distinctive accommodations include Point Reyes Seashore Lodge, Jack London Lodge and Vineyard Country Inn. Vineyards, among others, include Beringer, Coppola, and Rutherford Hill.

The second trip is Arizona, Tucson  to Tombstone Adventure that is a 6 day/5 night program for up to 12 guests in September and early October.

The per person rate based on double occupancy is $US2,498 exclusive of air to and from Tucson, AZ. The price includes all meals (but 1 dinner), accommodations, ground transportation, all sporting equipment and expert guides.

Austin-Lehman Adventures specializes in upscale multi-sport adventures to iconic destinations throughout the Americas.
