Winter holidays impact new travel job numbers
Christmas distractions caused new travel job vacancies to fall to its lowest level for 22 months.
According to the latest figures from C&M Travel Recruitment, December 2022’s total fell by 39% compared to a year earlier.
It was the lowest figure since February 2021.
Vacancies were also down by 58% on the pre-pandemic month of December 2019.
It was a more positive month for new candidates, which had the highest December total since 2018.
December 2022’s figure was up by 6% from 2021.
The number of candidates being placed in new travel jobs fell to an annual low in December.
Barbara Kolosinska, MD, said: “December was the slowest month of the year and always results in a big dip in activity.”
“This shouldn’t diminish that 2022 was a huge recovery for travel recruitment.”
