Wizz Air inks new sustainable aviation fuel deal
Wizz Air has agreed a new sustainable aviation fuel partnership with Cepsa.
From 2025, Wizz Air will purchase sustainable aviation fuel to power flights across Spain.
The SAF will be produced from organic waste, such as used cooking oils or agricultural waste.
The partnership follows an trial run at Seville Airport in November 2022.
Wizz Air was among the airlines operating around 220 flights from the airport over one week using SAF produced by Cepsa.
This was the first time that the supply of SAF at this scale has been seen at an airport in southern Europe.
Wizz Air’s sustainability goal is to reach net-zero by 2050.
In 2022, the airline achieved its lowest ever annual carbon intensity, 15% lower than in 2021.
Wizz Air currently operates flights from Europe to various airports including Alicante, Bilbao, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca and Zaragoza.
