Wizz Air shutting down Abu Dhabi base
Budget carrier Wizz Air has announced an upcoming pull out from Abu Dhabi.
The airline is blaming geopolitical and operational difficulties.
It will end all local operations from Zayed International Airport from September 1.
Wizz Air said it will remain focused mostly on its central and eastern European operations.
Wizz Air CEO József Váradi cited ‘limited market access and supply chain constraints’ on its decision to shut down its Abu Dhabi base.
“We had a tremendous journey in the Middle East but the operating environment has changed significantly.”
Wizz Air’s Abu Dhabi subsidiary was a joint venture with state-owned Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Co
It was its first foray outside Europe
