Woman died after falling from camel
A female tourist from the UK was killed after she was thrown from a camel in the Egyptian town of Giza, an inquest heard.
The Daily Telegraph reports that 61-year-old Valerie Hewitt was with her husband, daughter and son-in-law when they decided to take a sunset camel ride to see the Pyramids. However, the family had to stop to allow a funeral procession to pass by.
The newspaper quotes Mrs Hewitt’s husband Brian as telling the inquest: Valerie’s camel seemed to buck and she was thrown into the air. She fell on her back and head on concrete. There was mayhem.”
Though, the newspaper reports, the woman was treated correctly at hospital in Cairo, she suffered a brain haemorrhage and died 11 days later. The inquest recorded a verdict of accidental death.
