Work on Disney’s Star Wars lands will start next year
Work will begin next year on Disney’s two recently announced Star Wars themed lands.
Two 14-acre lands are planned for its parks in California and Florida.
Walt Disney Co. chief operating officer Tom Staggs said they will be, perhaps, the most immersive land Disney has ever built.
"We want people to feel like they’ve stepped into the world of Star Wars and that’s really sparked our imaginations and it’s got people fired up," he said.
No opening date has been disclosed yet for the two Star Wars Lands.
While experts predict a 2018 opening at the very earliest, guests can get a sneak peek later this year.
‘Star Wars Launch Bay’ will open later in the year at both parks as an ‘interactive experience’ giving fans a taste of the new Star Wars film ‘The Force Awakens’ set for release in December.
It will feature character meet-and-greets, memorabilia and film props.
