World Cup hits London attractions
The World Cup led to a decline in visitors to many London attractions in June, new figures show.
Overall attendance levels were down by 2% in the month compared with the same period in 2005 despite good weather. Total attendances were 3.6 million based on a sample of 65 attractions.
Paid attractions were hit worst, with a decline of 7%, while free attraction visits rose by 1.4%.
VisitLondon said the World Cup had a negative impact on many attractions in the capital.
Overall attendances in the first half of the year are down by almost 2% year-on-year.
