World youth conference seeks bids

Saturday, 10 May, 2011 0

The World Youth Student and Educational (WYSE) Travel Confederation is inviting destinations working in cooperation with hotels, conference centres and local youth travel organisations to bid on hosting the 2012 and the 2013 World Youth & Student Travel Conference (WYSTC).

Bids are being solicited for both years in the same bid process.

“There is always a lot of interest in hosting WYSTC. Smart destinations and tourism organisations know the long-term value of the youth market,” said Michael Palmer, conference director for WYSTC.

The conference includes networking activities, professional seminars, scheduled business appointments, association meetings and an exhibition area.

WYSTC takes place this year September 20-23 in Barcelona.

Palmer added, “As well as bringing immediate financial benefits, the legacy of the conference and its dynamic attendees benefit the host region long after the event, through the strong partnerships that are created at WYSTC: young travellers generate over $136 billion in tourism annually.”

The expectation is that 750 to 850 people will attend in 2012 and 850 to 1000 will attend in 2013.

WYSTC attendees represent youth, student and educational travel companies, language schools and educational institutions, youth travel-related suppliers such as accommodation, attractions, entertainment organisations, restaurateurs, transportation companies and support services.

To submit:

By written proposal (hard copy or digital) to: WYSTC Keizersgracht 174, 1016DW Amsterdam, The Netherlands Attn: Laura Garratt
