World’s largest fried rice pan!
The world largest “fried rice” pan will be a key feature of the Pattaya Vegetarian Festival 2006, an event supported by the Sawang Boriboon Foundation in Naklau and Tourism Authority of Thailand in Pattaya and organised by Pattaya City from 21-31 October 2006, with the first day, 21 October a religious ceremony to welcome the Goddess, Seng Ti Tee with a spectacular dragon dance procession from Pak Nam Poh consisting of 200 performers.
Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand Region 3 Mr. Chaiyawat Jaroensook Second Lieutenant said that this year the Tourism Authority of Thailand has placed this event on the yearly tourist calendar issued by Tourism Authority of Thailand.
Mr. Suchat Denchuaychai, President of Pattaya Chef Association said that this year the Association has prepared the largest pan of fried rice with more than 60 chefs from various hotel in Pattaya help in the preparation. Ingredients include brown jasmine rice, mushroom, water chestnut, cashew nut, carrot, beans, yam, potato, soya sauce, salt, sugar, pepper etc. with a total weight of the fried rice at around 605.4 kilogram and about 2,000 servings.
The Vegetarian Festival is normally held on the 9th month of the year with Chinese migrates who live in Pattaya having brought over the tradition and spreading it around in the Kingdom with the Thai people embracing the tradition ever since.
