WTTC: AI set to shape future of global tourism
New reports from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) and Microsoft highlight the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the future of global tourism.
These final two reports underscore a commitment to a digital future that prioritises safety and responsible AI adoption.
The reports are “Responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI): Overview of AI Risks, Safety & Governance” and “Artificial Intelligence (AI): Global Strategies, Policies & Regulations.”
Launched during the WTTC’s participation at the UN General Assembly in New York, these reports mark milestones in WTTC’s mission to promote innovation and excellence in customer experiences.
“Responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI)” delves into the potential risks associated with AI deployment and offers strategies for establishing frameworks that promote transparency, accountability, and fairness.
It covers addressing bias and discrimination and ensuring human oversight of AI systems.
In the fourth and final instalment, “Artificial Intelligence (AI): Global Strategies, Policies & Regulations,” WTTC is a detailed overview of the AI ecosystem across key countries and international organisations.
It shows how policymakers are shaping regulations and strategies to foster AI innovation.
Julia Simpson, WTTC CEO, said: “The insights demonstrate that AI is not just a technological advancement; it is a strategic tool that can personalise customer experiences and drive sustainable improvements.”
According to WTTC, AI has the power to revolutionise how businesses in the global tourism sector operate, offering opportunities for growth and innovation.
Both reports underline the urgent need for tourism businesses to embrace AI as a strategic priority.
However, despite the increasing recognition of AI, challenges such as AI-skilled workforce shortages persist.
