WTTC hails ICAO sustainable aviation fuel target
The World Travel & Tourism Council has welcomed the new ICAO global framework for Sustainable Aviation Fuels.
The UM aviation body announced it at the Conference on Aviation and Alternative Fuels in Dubai.
It saw 100 states agree to a 5% carbon intensity reduction by 2030.
“This important agreement is critical to delivering ICAO’s goal of net zero carbon emission by 2050,” said WTTC President Julia Simpson.
Earlier this year, WTTC released a report on SAF calling on governments to take decisive action.
“This is not solely an aviation challenge. Governments, SAF producers, investors and all stakeholders need to collaborate,” Simpson added.
“They need to accelerate the development and adoption of sustainable aviation fuels, to ensure a more sustainable and resilient sector.”
