Zoom to start two new transatlantic routes
Transatlantic low-cost carrier Zoom Airlines has announced new routes to Fort Lauderdale and San Diego from Gatwick for 2008.
The twice-weekly Fort Lauderdale route will start in May, and will make Zoom the first scheduled airline in 10 years to offer flights from Europe to the sunshine resort. Over 200,000 UK visitors fly to Fort Lauderdale each year.
Return fares start from £399 return including taxes.
From June 2008, Zoom will offer the only direct air service between Europe and San Diego, also operating twice-weekly, with prices starting at £449 return including taxes.
Zoom owner John Boyle said: “These new routes confirm our commitment to offering customers lower airfares across the Atlantic.
“Direct flights to Fort Lauderdale and San Diego will offer a convenient low-fare service from London which allows customers to avoid the need to change aircraft en route. It’s all part of the low-fare revolution that we started earlier this year with our launch of flights to New York.
“Fort Lauderdale and San Diego are extremely popular holiday destinations and we are delighted to be offering low-cost travel allowing the British public to enjoy some of the most outstanding holiday destinations in the world.”
Zoom also plans to launch an additional transatlantic route out of Gatwick next year, although the destination has not yet been announced.
