$1 billion ship will have zip lines and carousel
What do cruise passengers want these days? Royal Caribbean’s answer is zip lines, loft suites, an amphitheater with poolside performances and a carousel.
Those are some of the “firsts†at sea unveiled the Miami-based company’s for its new cruise ship, the $1 billion Oasis. It will be the largest ship in the world with 5,400 passengers.
“With our history of introducing game-changing amenities, we’re pleased to be able to answer the question, ‘What could possibly come next?'” Richard Fain, chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., said in a written statement.
In addition to what is being called a “Central Park neighborhood,†officials said the Oasis will feature a Boardwalk neighborhood, designed to remind cruisers of the seaside piers of yesteryear. Its centerpiece: a handcrafted carousel.
The neighborhood’s AquaTheater amphitheater will be the largest freshwater pool found on a ship and will host activities and performances.
Oasis thrill-seekers will also be able to fly across a zip-line cable suspended nine decks above the Boardwalk. Guest can also get a workout on the two rock-climbing walls. And passengers have the option of staying in 28 loft suites with floor-to-ceiling windows.
