14 staff lose their jobs after Thomas Cook closes websites
Thomas Cook has decided to close the websites of www.co-opholidays.co.uk and www.ski-direct.co.uk, leading to the loss of 14 jobs.
The operator said it decided to close the sites because the Co-operative Travel website offers the same products, receives the majority of customer traffic and is supported by its Altrincham office.
Traffic from these two similar sites will be
redirected to www.co-operativetravel.co.uk.
"Since Thomas Cook, The Co-operative Travel and the Midlands Co-operative formed a joint venture last year, we’ve always said that we would
conduct a full review of all the business functions and look to integrate and strengthen the combined business by addressing underperforming areas and minimising overlap and duplication," said a Thomas Cook spokesman.
"We are working closely with those 14 affected colleagues as they go through the consultation and notice period.
"Vacancies within the similar Co-operative Travel homeworking division, The Co-operative Personal Travel Advisors (CoPTA), have been highlighted to those affected colleagues and information provided to interested individuals."
