57 job losses confirmed in Opodo shake-up
Opodo has confirmed 57 redundancies from its UK office as part of a move towards a decentralised company structure.
The online travel company has revealed a new UK management team under CEO Ignacio Martos.
Caroline Noble is UK director; Alex Gisbert, commercial director and Paul Treanor, head of marketing.
The appointment of Nicholas Simmons as finance director of the Opodo group, reporting to the CEO, was also confirmed.
Martos said: “The internet is in a period of rapid growth both globally and in the UK and I am certain this new structure and decentralised model will provide both customers and partners with an excellent online travel service and deliver a consistently improving financial performance.
“We have achieved great success to date to become one of the leading pan-European online travel brands with sales of around €1.2 billion for 2006 and I am confident the new team will ensure the momentum generated will continue.’’
Amadeus is fully supportive of the new structure and remains committed to the success of Opodo, a statement said.
