$746 a day at North America’s most expensive ski resort
The combined cost of a night’s hotel stay, basic ski rental package and lift tickets, a drink and a meal at Vail is $746, which led to top the list of TripAdvisor’s most expensive resorts.
“Overall, Colorado ranked as the most expensive state for US skiers, with four of the five most expensive ski destinations located there. And Whistler, in British Columbia, was the priciest ski resort in Canada, with a total index price of $486,” says the site.
The biggest bargain? Salt Lake City, where the total cost for skiing and a night's accommodations, according to the index, was $239.
—Other well-known though expensive ski resorts include Whistler Blackcomb, the biggest on the continent with well over 200 trails. There’s also snowmobiling, sleigh rides and cross country skiing. Ski buffs around the world describe Whistler as among the best in North America.
—Wyoming’s Jackson Hole is another of the best ski resort towns around. Famous for its natural deep powder, Jackson Hole is in the Rocky Mountains and includes day spas, luxury shopping and celebrities.
—The Big Sky Resort in Montana near Yellowstone National Park gets about 400 inches of powdery snow every season. It has Nordic ski trails and other attractions that include some of the “best slopes in the Rockies,” according to news reports.
