A “rummier” is born at Cap Maison Resort
Cap Maison CEO Adam Gobat is set to become the region’s first “rummier” at the new luxury boutique resort opening in St Lucia next July, according to an announcement made in February.
“You find sommeliers around the world,” says Mr Gobat, ” but only at Cap Maison will you find a ‘rummier’.”
“Rummier” is the word being used by the young boss of the new resort to describe the rum specialist who will advise and introduce guests to the pleasures of the Cap Maison rum list, which, it is promised, will be the most impressive in the Caribbean region! Adam, who was born in St Lucia, said, “I do like rum and know a bit about it so it will be no hardship becoming the first rummier!â€
Adam Gobat says that it was Cotton’s Restaurant in London, which features an impressive list of world rums, that gave him the idea and he is now working on making sure the Cap Maison list includes all the world’s best rum labels. “Rum is something easier to drink in the heat and locals indeed treat it as an after dinner liquor ahead of cognac,†he enthused.
Cap Maison will also feature a walk in wine cellar where guests can either chose from the list of have a tour of the cellar. There will be daily tastings and wine appreciation sessions.
Cap Maison is one of the Caribbean’s new hotel developments. It will be the first luxury residence-style boutique property on the island. It will offer among other things, pampering by resort butlers and private chefs available to cook in the suite and serve dinner on the roof terrace.
