ABTA gives sneak peek of red tape report
ABTA has thrown the first grenade at travel industry red tape with the identification of five pieces of legislation that are unwieldy and unnecessary.
As part of its war on pointless bureaucracy which will culminate in the organisation submitting a full report to the Government in July, ABTA’s red tape task force has highlighted the following as burdensome and ready for review:
* Smoke-free [Signs] Regulations 2007
* Energy Performance of Buildings
* Immigration [Hotel Records] Order 1972
* Licensing Act 2003
* Regulatory Reform [Fire Safety] Order 2005
ABTA is also focusing on the over collection of customer information, inconsistent fire regulations, irrelevant energy performance certificates and overcharging for alcohol licences.
ABTA’s head of public affairs Luke Pollard said the five outlined areas were just a taster of what was to come in the full report.
He added: "We have already received and acted on suggestions from Abta members but continued industry feedback is essential and will help us immensely when drafting our full report. This government is sincere in its desire to lessen the red tape burden and we must not waste this opportunity."
