ABTA introduces text alerts
ABTA will update members by text about any serious international incidents on a 24/7 basis from tomorrow.
The ABTA Text Alert Service alerting members to anything that affects their customers and businesses will specifically detail “a significant operational event” which is likely to affect British holidaymakers, a change in Foreign Office travel advice or details of an event that has received press coverage and will therefore generate calls.
If the events are during office hours, ABTA will also email the information.
ABTA’s Member Operational Support Manager Susan Lamb said: “We will not bombard members with messages and will often refer to the ABTA website which will constantly be updated during an incident. We have set up the new service to help specialist members, who may not have the same out of office support mechanisms big tour operators have. We are introducing it in time for the peak summer and hurricane seasons and expect that information flow will be quicker and more efficient when we really need it.”
To register for the service, email your company name, ABTA number, contact names and mobile numbers to Susan Lamb at [email protected]
