ABTA reports more agency failures
The number of agents going bust this year has reached 26 following two more agency failures in the past week.
The first was Chester-based Brookfield Travel Ltd, which ceased trading last week due to insolvency. According to ABTA, Brookfield Travel had about 40 forward bookings.
The second was the Travel Talk Group, based in Sheffield. The company had three branches – two Sheffield and one in Doncaster. The company also traded under the names Blades Travel, Travel Talk Direct, Travel Talk Rentals, Sporting Breaks, Marbellarent and Travel Life. ABTA believes there are between 60 and 70 Travel Talk clients abroad, and “a few hundred” clients with forward bookings.
These bankruptcies take the total number of failing ABTA members to 26 this year, which compares to 25 at this time last year.
Clients who need assistance should contact the ABTA Claims department on: 020 7307 2041.
